Mission:

A Pleasant Place, The Respite Ministry at Pleasant Word Christian Center International, is a non -profit organization in South Fulton, Georgia. The ministry exists to provide a place of love, fellowship, and activities for people living with various, mild to moderate memory loss diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Dementia, or Parkinson's.

 Philosophy:

With a group of great volunteers, we have created a community where people living with these conditions are known for who they are, and not for who they are no longer!  We highlight their abilities - not their disabilities - of our participants, whom we call "friends".  By enhancing their quality of life, we can give their loved ones a much-needed break.

A Pleasant Place: We Care Like Family

Benefits of "A Pleasant Place"

Functionality You Will Love

Inclusion

We ask our "friends" for help (with functional tasks), so they know they are still vital and can do meaningful work among a group.  We ask our "friends" what they think, so they will feel respected and relevant.  We engage our "friends" in humor so they will have the joy of creativity and play.

Socialization

We have dedicated voulunteers who serve as companions.  Our "friends" have the opportunity to enjoy Music and Dance, Exercise, Optional Chapel Services, Service Projects, Arts, and Crafts.

Stimulating Activities

Through visual art, movement, music, storytelling, games and fellowship, A Pleasant Place stimulates cognition, nurtures growth, and provides purpose and meaning for participants with memory challenges.

Care for the Caregiver

Caring for a family member or loved one can be challenging.  A Pleasant Place Respite Ministry is designed to relieve the caregivers so they can run errands, take care of business, or just enjoy time to one' self.
